  1. Prepare of green peas (I used frozen peas), ground coarsely.
  2. Prepare of green peas, whole.
  3. It's of potato, cut lengthwise.
  4. You need of mustard oil.
  5. You need of dry red chilli.
  6. It's of bay leaves.
  7. You need of cumin seeds.
  8. It's of asafoetida.
  9. It's of ginger, grated.
  10. It's of green chilies, chopped.
  11. It's of coriander leaves, chopped.
  12. It's of salt.
  13. It's of turmeric powder.
  14. You need of red chilli powder.
  15. You need of garam masala powder.
  16. Prepare of roasted coriander powder.
  17. It's of tomatoes, cut lengthwise.
  18. It's of water.
  19. Prepare of ghee (opt).

Nimona (Green Peas Curry) instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp. mustard oil & fry the potatoes till light brown in colour. Drain and keep aside..
  2. Add 1 tbsp. oil in the same pan & saute the ground green peas till the moisture evaporates. Keep aside..
  3. Heat remaining oil & temper with red chilli, bay leaves, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Saute for a few seconds..
  4. Add the ginger, green chilies & coriander leaves. Stir fry for a few seconds..
  5. Now add all the dry spices and give it a toss..
  6. Add the tomatoes and the remaining whole green peas. Mix well & cook, covered till they turn soft..
  7. Add the sauteed green peas, fried potatoes & water. Give it a stir & simmer, covered for 4-5 minutes or till the gravy turns slightly thick..
  8. When done, add the ghee (opt) and switch off the flame..
  9. Serve with plain steamed rice. jeera rice, paratha, poori, etc. for a nice healthy U.P. style meal..
